Congratulations to Frances Coleman, Awardee 2016 Educator of the Year

Learn a little more about our 2016 Educator of the Year Awardee,

Frances Coleman

This is my eighth year to teach at Scottsboro High School and I am excited to be at my alma mater. I graduated from SHS in 1986 and The University of Alabama in 1990 with a BS in Microbiology. I am looking forward to being a part of the Career Tech faculty as well as working with the students of SGA. I will be teaching Applied Engineering Systems (Project Lead The Way), Research and Design, Biology, and Physics this year.

This will be Scottsboro High School's 3rd year to participate with Project Lead the Way engineering curriculum. Mr. Tom Doll will be offering Foundations to Engineering Design as a new class here at SHS along with the Principles of Engineering that I have already been teaching for the past 2 years. This curriculum is being adopted system wide and has already started in the elementary classes as well as the Junior High School. This is a complete STEM hands on approach to applied math, physics and engineering. If you are interested in learning more about PLTW or participating as a resource or guest speaker for any of my classes please feel free to email me at the link above or call my room (256) 218-2054.

I am married to Hardin Coleman. We have two great kids, Kate and Will, and a variety of animals. If I am not at school, you can find me at the barn or camping with the family.
