David R. Fitzgibbons is the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Birmingham Field Office, in Birmingham, Alabama.
Mr. Fitzgibbons most recently served as the Deputy Assistant Director (DAD) of Security Operations Branch 1. In this role, he led Presidential appointments and FBI applicant background investigations and managed content for daily briefs to the FBI Director. Additionally, he was the FBI's Senior Implementation Officer (SIO) for Trusted Workforce 2.0. In April 2025, under his leadership, the Insider Threat Office (InTO) combined with SecD Branch 1.
